In 1908, Walter H. Shaw, grandfather of the agency's owners, established the business as a place for friends and neighbors to turn for understandable insurance coverage from a local member of the community. Later, his wife, Esther G. Shaw, assumed ownership of the agency, the first woman in Vermont to own an insurance agency. Esther then sold the business to her youngest son, Douglas, who ran the agency successfully until 1990.
Today, the grandsons of Walter and Esther Shaw - Mike Powers, Andy Shaw, and Craig Powers - and their staff of dedicated insurance professionals are continuing the tradition of hometown, local service. Our family-owned, independent insurance agency offers personal, business, life, health, disability and long-term care insurance to residents of southern Vermont. With policies from our national and regionally recognized companies we can tailor your insurance policy to provide comprehensive coverage.
